Brief Biography

Dr Joseph D’Silva joined NSU in 2004 in the Department of Biology. He has since taught courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, General Biology, Ecology, Histology and Zoology. His current research area is Water Quality and Identification of Microscopic Invertebrates from the Elizabeth River (marine) and Norfolk Botanical Gardens (freshwater). He mentors undergraduate students to work on the identification and on water quality. 

Dr D’Silva holds an M Sc degree (Dhaka University), MS (Univ of British Columbia), Ph D (London University). His previous research is on the parasites of fish particularly but other animals as well and has published his work in international journals.
