A nursing student was one of the outstanding Salford residents, volunteers, and public servants to be recognised at the recent Spirit of Salford Community Awards.

Oluchi Emma Okoroafor is an award-winning, final-year postgraduate student who was inspired to study nursing after seeing the incredible care staff gave to her daughter, who was born prematurely.

Former student Lindsey Dawson, who completed her diploma in Adult Nursing at the Â׸£ÀûƬ in 1999, is set to become an honorary lecturer.

The Â׸£ÀûƬ has been awarded the contract to provide the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) by Health Education England (HEE), and is looking to engage with employers to establish their needs and gauge their interest.

The Â׸£ÀûƬ has named Nursing Associate student Jordan-Lee Booth its Apprentice of the Year for the School of Health and Society.

The Â׸£ÀûƬ is to become the ‘first in the UK’ to not only use podcasting as a teaching tool for educating its student nursing associates, but also to introduce it as an assessment method.

Chidinma (Victory) Oforji (pictured below), Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the Â׸£ÀûƬ, has designed a curriculum to ‘shape aspiration’ for young people, focusing on race, identity and belonging.

Wearing PPE and following relevant safety guidelines, students from the Â׸£ÀûƬ returned to campus last week for clinical skills training sessions to prepare them for placements in the NHS.
