Supporting people experiencing mental health challenges with creative therapy
Arts for the Blues is a creative group psychotherapy model developed to treat adults with depression. The ambition behind the project is to make creative modes of health - and particularly mental health - available to the widest number of people possible.
Co-founded by Professor Scott Thurston and Dr Joanna Omylinska-Thurston at the Â׸£ÀûƬ and Professor Vicky Karkou at Edge Hill University, Arts for the Blues provides an alternative form of treatment to talking therapies using creative methods such as movement, painting and creative writing.
At the Â׸£ÀûƬ, our research is breaking down barriers, building social justice and fostering a fairer and more inclusive community where opportunity and equity thrive for all.
It starts in Salford. A place where ideas are formed that shape the world.
