Biography
Tommy Burch is a doctoral researcher at the Â׸£ÀûƬ. His research investigates the gut microbiomes of Neotropical primates—with a focus on how gut bacterial communities are shaped by factors such as diet, seasonality, and anthropogenic activities.
Tommy undertook his undergraduate degree in Wildlife Conservation and Zoo Biology at the Â׸£ÀûƬ between 2014 and 2018, before continuing on at the university for his Master's by Research between 2019-2020, which focused on the behavioural ecology of a Neotropical primate species.
After this, Tommy worked as a zookeeper for almost two years, working with primates—Neotropical primates and gorillas—and other mammals (including big cats).
Tommy is now working on his PhD back at the Â׸£ÀûƬ.
