Biography

John Blake is the first Director of The Post-18 Project, and Professor of Social Innovation and Public Policy at the Social Innovation Institute, Â׸£ÀûƬ.

He was previously Director for Fair Access and Participation at the English higher education regulator, the Office for Students, where he was responsible for all aspects of equality regulation, as well as reimagining student involvement with the regulator, managing £1.4bn in direct financial support from government to universities, and advising government on lifelong learning.

Before that, he was a teacher and then worked across education policy and practice in a variety of school trusts and social reform organisations, including Ark, Now Teach and the think tank Policy Exchange. He has served on several government expert advisor panels and was a founding Governor of Oak National Academy, the government-backed online school provision.
