Areas of Research
My research interests focus on understanding and improving student experiences and outcomes in higher education, particularly in relation to:
Motivation and engagement – exploring the factors that influence student participation, persistence, and academic success.
Widening participation – supporting access to higher education for underrepresented and non-traditional student groups.
Social mobility – examining how education can act as a driver for improving life chances and reducing inequality.
I contribute to teaching and learning across a range of accounting and finance subjects, with a focus on developing students’ analytical, technical, and professional skills.
My teaching areas include:
Financial Management – supporting students in understanding financial decision-making, investment appraisal, and risk analysis
Management Accounting – developing skills in budgeting, performance measurement, and internal decision-making.
Financial Reporting – enabling students to interpret and prepare financial statements in line with current standards.
Auditing – introducing key principles of audit, assurance, and professional ethics.
