Georgina Randle's journey into Advanced Clinical Practice has opened up new opportunities both for her own career and within the organisation she works for. While continuing to work and build her skills, Georgina has been able to take on a developing role that’s helping to shape how care is delivered. Choosing the apprenticeship route has given Georgina the chance to progress while staying in a clinical setting and making a real difference day to day.

Looking back over your time on the apprenticeship so far, how have you found the whole experience?

I have learnt so much during my apprenticeship, and I have been grateful to be able to train and widen my skillset whilst still receiving a salary.

How are you hoping a degree apprenticeship will support your career progression?

I will be able to take on an advanced clinical practitioner post within my current Trust and service. I now have the opportunity to progress in my career whilst remaining predominantly clinical in my practice.

What impact has your degree apprenticeship had in the organisation?

I am one of the first ACPs in my business group, the first ACP in my service (Stroke) and the first SLT ACP to train at Salford and my Trust. The impact will be promoting a role that challenges traditional medical models of delivering care and bringing a unique skill set into the workforce to meet the needs of patients.

How would you describe the support that you’ve received from the Â׸£ÀûƬ?

I have felt incredibly supported by lecturers throughout the course. In particular, my learning facilitator, Lynda Mutthapan, has been instrumental in supporting me through the challenges of the course.
